Henrik Andersen, (electric and acoustic
guitarist/composer, sitarplayer) has now been a professional
musician for nearly 15 years. He plays rock, classical,
hip-hop, Arabic & Indian music, funk, jazz and pop
too.
Andersen has played and toured – among many others
- with famous musicians: Drummer Trilok Gurtu (India),
Bickram Ghosh (India), Mandolin Rajesh (India), Shashank
(India), Ranjit Barot (India), Mahesh Vinayakram (India),
Pete Lockett (UK). And with the Danish hip hop/pop-band
Outlandish - live and on their records.
And….Andersen was the soloist in John McLaughlin’s
difficult concerto for Guitar & Orchestra ”The
Mediterranean” – performed live with the Royal
Danish Music-Conservatoire Symphony-Orchestra in Copenhagen.
So…Andersen is a man who really can play!
And now he sings too! In his newest project One Nation
Under A Groove; 12 of his songs are produced by two Danish
pop/trip hop-producers and turned into modern pop/indie/funk/world-music.
Andersens performances involves a lot of different instruments:
Acoustic and electric guitars, sitar, veena, percussion,
keyboards, harmonium and as mentioned: real singing. Andersen
is also specialized in Human-Beatbox & the indian-style
vocalising: Konnakol. This kind of rhythmic Indian rap
you can especially hear with One Nation Under A Groove
– pop/world songs with lyrics in English –
and blended with drum-machines and keyboards. Unique new
pop.
Andersen has toured all over Europe, Brazil, Greenland,
Canada, USA (New York) and Russia (Moscow). Besides One
Nation Under A Groove he tours with the danish band Bhatiz.
Andersen has until now released 9 cd´s containing
own material. One of his late bands was Music Spoken Here.
He has written 3 books on the vocal tradition of Carnatic
music (there’s that Konnakol-thing again!).
Privately Andersen lives in the middle of Copenhagen
with his son 16 year old Lukas, who plays trombone in
the amusement-park Tivoli’s own band; The “Tivoli
Garden” ! Yes, Lukas is marching in his Tivoli-uniform
playing in and around Tivoli and Copenhagen.
Andersen has done yoga & meditation for almost 25
years, he’s serious musician and singer, writer,
cartoonist and single dad – but besides that - he’s
quite a nice and funny guy!
