September 2008, Review of the album “Guardian Angel” By Ceyri Jones, Edmonton, Canada

Did you ever see the video with Robert Palmer's "Addicted To Love"? He has three women singing backup with black (very short) dresses and they move in rhythmically to the beat, which becomes mesmerizing. I think Ray Charles also did it in a Coke/Pepsi commercial. I thought of it, when I heard the song "ONE NATION", and thought it suited it perfectly.

“IT’S MY LIFE” is my car-driving-song, when I am ticked with the world! I love the nanana-part in the beginning. Actually it is MY song, when I feel as if I AM giving a lot more, than I am getting back and need to step back and refuel. Seems as if "little green men" singing the nanana-part. Looking down on planet Earth - making fun of us all - and we just say: It's my life...

“BLUEBERRY HEAVEN” takes me away to a new dimension, somewhere when I am at complete peace with my mind. Sort of like laying in a meadow looking up and watching the clouds slide gently across that blue palate - feeling ones breath ebb and flow. No thoughts. No anxieties. Pure serenity.

Have you ever thought of releasing “GUARDIAN ANGEL” as a single? I bet it would do very well with Christian Radio stations and sell the music - for churches to sing. A lot of the new churches are turning to this type of music for their Sunday Services in attempts to entice younger audiences.

I love - and think it is my personal favorite of the CD - “HOLD ON TO ME”. The lyrics are deep, and Henrik Andersens voice really brings out the emotion of the song. AWESOME!!!!

“JAZZCRASH HOTEL”: Good fun One Nation Under A Groove!! This one I envision the lead singer walking down the main streets of several cities: New York, Paris, Rome, etc. Walking to the beat with the spirit of a high fashion model. Henrik Andersen and his sunglasses and acting funky like in his black suit photo.

“LOST”: Henrik Andersen is driving down a busy road to this music, and the beat of the music matches the beat of the people – i.e. people on bikes, walking,
Roller-blading, drivers etc. - but you just see their 'stone' cold expressions with no emotion from being hardened over the loss of love, loss of trust of this world. Showing you their lovely virtues - only to have the next vision of them as demons, until you also are left with a Stone Cold expression, that you try desperately to snap out of...and you DO!!

Interlude “SECRET GARDEN”: I just see a scene at 5:30 a.m. in the desert with a camel or two - a minaret - a woman washing clothes in a well back in ancient times.

Interlude “BLUEBERRY NIGHT”: Just you on a dark stage playing your piano (I know it’s Flemming Pedersen playing everything in this tune), but you are playing for only me - as every woman in the world would love to have a man play a song for just her...and you are looking at her as she also watches you play.

Back to the song “ONE NATION”: Besides having the 3 girls singing back-up in their hot black mini's. There is an haute couture fashion show going on and the models make-up is very Geisha, but they are all from different cultures. They are slowly pulled offstage by hundreds of people hands high over their head clapping. Full of life and enthusiasm and they transform back into their full of life/spirit selves. Smiling and beautiful with their own cultural uniqueness - transformation from stone cold to alive laughing and full of joy.

“(YOU NEED) MUSIC”: A street full of Indian dancers at the time of the Festival of Color - very bright and alive!! Very Bollywood a lot of bright sari's in this one. This is a super great album.

Excellent album, huge talent, unique voice and a new era of music is born!

Finally the long awaited debut-album “Guardian Angel” by the Danish band One Nation Under A Groove is finished! Every single track on this beautiful release is a musical masterpiece and a mixture of Indian music, Soul and Hip Hop, composed mainly by Henrik Andersen and produced by Morten Buschman and Flemming Pedersen. One Nation Under A Groove represents with their music a new pop sound! The musician Henrik Andersen is an brilliant artist with a unique voice and konnakol/human beat box-vocals, which makes his singing so special!

This album contains 12 tracks and starts with one of my favourite songs, the funky pop-Soul number “Guardian Angel”, which spreads joy and happiness - and makes you just feel good! This song begins with the lyrics:
“When I grew up – I lived in my world of fantasy”
and I am very convinced of the fact that Henrik Andersen must own a lot of imagination to write such fantastic lyrics and melodies.

The next song “(You Need) Music” is another track I really like. It is wonderful dedication of a big passion: MUSIC! In this song Henrik Anderesen reflects the question of the sense of life in a philosophical way and he tries to find the answer in music:
“We would be lost in this world without music,
let..s come together and sing a song.
Music can heal us and make a strong.”

I agree, because where words cannot be expressed any more, music can still be a bridge to express deep emotions and can help you through bad times – or bring people together!

Besides groovy funky songs as “Keep The Groove” or “One Nation” there are also romantic and pensive ballads, as for example “Hold On To Me”, a wonderful song with piano or meditative melodies as the track number 6 “Blueberry Heaven”.
This album is very vaired and offers a lot of important values as: spirituality, love and joy of life and explains: how important music is! One thing is for sure: with the Danish band One Nation Under A Groove is a new era of music is born!
